Notes:
XTU and TS don’t need to be used together
ThrottleStop
After downloading, extract to a fixed location (a path you won’t easily change) (e.g. “C:\Program File\ThrottleStop”)
Then open ThrottleStop.exe
The first red box in the upper-left is for selecting profiles. The software has 4 profiles by default
- Performance
- Game
- Internet
- Battery
Usage is just like the names (obviously)
Check Speed Shift - EPP in each of your options, and set them to 0/30/128/255 from left to right
The red box in the lower-left, let me first introduce the functions in the first column
Clock Modulation and Chipset Clock Modulation Don’t check them!
Set Multiplier Not setting it is fine too
Speed Shift EPP Very useful! See the number on the left? That can be edited! (Bet you didn’t expect that!) Take a value from 0-255. The closer to 0, the higher the performance; the closer to 255, the more power-saving (lower performance)
Power Saver requires checking Disable Turbo to be usable. This option ensures the lowest idle frequency to reduce power consumption. It’s not very useful for newer processors, because modern processors have new technologies to reduce idle power consumption. Not recommended for processors newer than Core 2. Up to you, usually don’t check it
Disable Turbo Turns off turbo boost. Nothing much to say. Better not to check this on current processors (your base frequency is only 2G+)
BD PROCHOT Very, very important and useful Lowers power when the temperature reaches a certain value, commonly known as the thermal wall. This is it. (Enabled by default) Turn it off if you need to, but it’s not recommended !!!If you turn it off and have no other measures, the CPU won’t be able to automatically downclock, and will force a shutdown at 100°C!!!
Save stores the current settings into the ini file. Remember to press it after making changes
Open the Options button below
Do Not reset FID/VID on exit, don’t let TS restore settings on exit Recommended to check
Start Minimized start minimized Recommended to check
Minimize on Close Recommended to check
Nvidia GPU/AMD GPU check whichever you use Optional
FIVR (The Most Important Part)
Let’s go straight to the middle row; skip the left side.
The FIVR CONTROL above is easy to understand: it means select which component, then adjust it through the XXX Voltage below.
XXX Voltage is the key point. To prevent you from changing things blindly, there’s even a special “Unlock Adjustable Voltage” that you must click before you can modify the settings below.
Be careful not to touch that STATIC!
Don’t touch that Voltage
Look at Offset Voltage. Range controls your adjustment range: the left lowers the voltage, the right raises it.

You need to tune the OFFSET VOLTAGE that best suits your computer yourself The quality of every CPU is different; there’s no universal data
Save Voltages Changes to ThrottleStop.INI option one, don’t save voltage settings. Option two, save on close. Option three, save immediately.
Setting Up Auto-Start
Press Windows (or search) and type Task Scheduler
Task Scheduler - Create Basic Task
Set the name - Next
When do you want it to start? When the user logs on
What action do you want it to perform? Start a program
Program or script: fill in the full path of ThrottleStop.exe
Check “Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click Finish”
Check “Run with the highest privileges”
Conditions tab: uncheck all options. For some grayed-out checkboxes, you can first check their parent to uncheck them, then uncheck the parent. In short, there should be no checked options at all, including grayed ones.
Settings tab: check “Allow task to be run on demand”. Uncheck everything else.
